Melissa Balaban, Esq. is an Advisory Consultant with EPS. Melissa is currently the Chief Operating Officer for IKAR, a Jewish spiritual community in Los Angeles, which she helped found in 2004.
Melissa is an attorney who specialized in employment law for the majority of her legal career. Most recently, Melissa was assistant dean for career services at the University of Southern California Law School. Prior to joining USC and EPS, Melissa practiced employment law in a private firm, served as directing attorney of Public Counsel's Child Care Law Project and taught as an adjunct professor at Loyola Marymount University's MBA program.
As an EPS consultant, Melissa conducted numerous investigations into employment practices issues for large and small companies. Melissa also conducted hundreds of courses on workplace diversity, preventing workplace harassment and other employee relations matters to employees, managers, professors, university administrators and executives. In addition, she has served as an expert witness on human resources matters.
Melissa has been a frequent speaker on employment law and career placement issues at conferences and seminars for attorneys, human resources and law recruiting professionals. She has been an active member of several national and local bar associations and served on a variety of bar committees, the Educational Programming Advisory Council, and the Diversity of the National Association of Law Placement.
She is a graduate of UC Berkeley and the University of Southern California Law School where she received the Eleanor Shattuck Award for potential as an outstanding member of the legal profession. |
