California Jury Awards $11 Million for Sex Harassment

Alki David is the billionaire founder of two companies, FilmOn.TVNetworks and Hologram USA. He was recently sued for sexual harassment and battery by a former employee, Chastity Jones, who also claims she was fired after she refused to have sex with him.

In a jury trial in downtown Los Angeles, Jones testified that David inappropriately touched her, showed her pornographic videos, brought in a male stripper for the birthday of one of his executives, and ran his hands up and down her legs. The jury was persuaded that she was wrongfully fired for refusing his advances and that management knew or should have known about the harassment and failed to take appropriate action to stop it. She was awarded $3.1 million in compensatory damages as well as $8 million in punitive damages for David’s sexual battery and because the acts were undertaken with malice.

David has denied the allegations and announced his intention to file an appeal of the decision, which he considers “unfair and unjust.” Meanwhile, Jones’ co-worker, Elizabeth Taylor, has also alleged sexual harassment and wrongful termination; her claims will go to trial in July.
