Gulf Coast Waste Disposal
Gulf Coast Waste Disposal
May 19, 2006
Dear DeDe,
I wanted to follow up and let you know how very much we enjoyed the training session that you did for our Managers, Supervisors and professional staff this past Wednesday at the Kemah Boardwalk. Enclosed with this letter are copies of the training evaluations from the participants. The responses are overwhelmingly positive, as I knew that they would be based upon your previous training sessions with us.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to “thank you” for all of your efforts and hard work. The work that EPS does is invaluable to employers and complements their Human Resources Staff’s efforts. After the last training session that you did for my staff in 2001, I did unfortunately end up terminating the employment of an employee the following year for violation of GCA’s Harassment Policy. This individual had attended some of the half day training that we contracted with you to conduct. The employee chose to file an EEOC claim after termination, claiming race discrimination as the reason for their separation from service. I wanted to share with you the “once in a lifetime” experience that I had subsequently. Not only did the EEOC dismiss the claim within one month of the employee’s filing, I also received a personal telephone call from the Claims Investigator assigned the case. She called to complement our company for the amount of effort that we had taken to train our employees and make sure that they knew company policy. I was told that in their experience it was unusual for them to see employers invest this amount of time, energy and resources in this sort of training effort. This is what I deem a superior return on investment.
I look forward to working with you again in the future.
Sincerely,
Ruth G. Ticer, PHR
Human Resources Director
