Lily M. Garcia, Esq., SPHR, is an experienced human resources professional and employment discrimination attorney. Lily became affiliated with EPS in 2002, developing and delivering dozens of training courses on such topics as diversity, anti-harassment, anti-discrimination, leadership and management effectiveness. Lily also assists EPS clients in the investigation of complaints relating to sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation and other employee misconduct. Lily provides these services in both Spanish and English. 

Lily began her legal career as a litigator with the law firm of Holland & Hart L.L.P. in Denver, Colorado. She then practiced employment discrimination law with the law firm of Hogan & Hartson L.L.P. in Washington, D.C., handling a wide range of matters from class actions to individual law suits. Lily was later the Director of CorporateProBono.Org (CPBO), a nonprofit venture of the American Corporate Counsel Association and the Pro Bono Institute. As Director of CPBO, Lily conducted training on corporate volunteerism at national legal conferences and provided extensive technical assistance to in-house lawyers and legal departments regarding the establishment of pro bono programs.

Lily’s career eventually led her to Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive (WPNI), the publisher of washingtonpost.com and Slate Magazine, where for several years she served as Director of Human Resources. At WPNI, Lily led the company’s human resources and facilities teams, resolving personnel issues, managing organizational change and implementing effective employee benefit and training programs.

Lily graduated with honors from Stetson University and completed her law degree at the University of Virginia School of Law. She has been admitted to practice law in both Colorado and Washington, D.C. and became certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (HRCI) in 2006.
